#LaTierraEsclava is the latest journalistic research published by Eldiario.es and El Faro. It analyzes the coffee, banana, cacao, sugar and palm plantations in four countries: Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras and Ivory Coast.

These crops have one thing in common: they are planted on large tracts of land, by poor hands, and then exported to rich countries.

These monocultures also have cartel business structures, promote corruption, have had relations with criminal groups or promote the destruction of the environment and land debris, among others.

The project, funded by Journalism Grants, was carried out by 19 journalists from four different countries.

The research is based on the analysis of public data, interviews and interactive visualizations that allow an innovative model to tell stories.of storytelling
