The digital media VOX published this week an article that shows how the United States is a "nation of immigrants": a place where everyone's family has, at some point, chosen to come to seek freedom or a better life.

In order to understand how the United States was populated and transformed by immigration, Vox analyses different visualizations that allow the reader to understand who's been kept out, who's been let in, and how they've been treated once they arrive throughout the years.

Some of the maps show from which country most of its residents cite as their "ancestry" is from. Some others analyze the flow of migrations in the country, how immigration to America has changed, the first illegal migrations versus the modern-day forced migration and the factors that changed it.

Some of the other #dataviz analyzed to show the complex evolution of immigrations laws or the transformation of the militarization of the US/Mexico border.
